Weekend IDC Overview:
At Divers Incorporated, we understand that life can be hectic, and pursuing a new career can be a significant commitment. We also understand that you have choices as to where you wish to complete your PADI Instructor Development course. Oftentimes the thing holding you back is the travel involved. Even though the warm tropics are enticing, the reality is you will be spending this time in paradise indoors while eating up valuable vacation time. This is why we've created a Weekend IDC program that combines online learning, in-person training, and flexible scheduling to help you achieve your goals. There is no longer the need to travel and take a long leave of absence from your current career to embark on this journey. A life changing journey that will allow you to design the career and the future you want. It is accomplished in three easy learning types.
E-Learning at Your Pace:
Your IDC journey begins with self-paced eLearning modules. Dive into the foundational knowledge required to become a PADI Instructor at your convenience. This flexible approach allows you to learn on your own schedule, making it accessible to those with busy lives. You simply log into the PADI eLearning system you are already familiar with and work on your modules.
Instructor-Led Online Sessions:
Once you've completed your eLearning modules, our unique, Instructor-led online sessions take place in the evenings prior and intertwined with your weekend workshops. This timing is typically from 7pm until 9pm… perfect for individuals who work or have other commitments during the day. During each session, you connect with our experienced instructors through virtual classrooms and dive deep into the subjects necessary for success as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
In-Person Weekends:
The heart of the Weekend IDC program unfolds over three weekends, providing invaluable hands-on experience and practical application. These in-person sessions are crucial for building confidence and proficiency as an instructor. Let's dive into what you can expect during these intensive weekends:
Weekend In-Person Training
The core of our Weekend IDC program unfolds over three weekends. Here's what you can expect during these in-person sessions:
In-Person Classroom Sessions:
Gain valuable insights into the art of teaching scuba diving and making the investment in education part of your Lifestyle Restructuring. You Explore the entire PADI curriculum including, course planning, dive theory, and the intricacies of effective instruction using all of the tools PADI provides. Our experienced team of Course Directors and Staff instructors will guide you through these critical aspects of becoming a PADI Instructor. During our program we focus on making you an effective instructor and PADI business partner which, in turn and without much more effort, allows you to pass your PADI Instructor Examination.
Confined Water (Pool) Instruction:
Put your skills and knowledge into action in the controlled environment a pool. Practice teaching scuba skills in confined water settings under the guidance of our PADI Course Director. This hands-on experience is crucial for building your confidence as an instructor. You have the opportunity to work with "students," practice and perfect skills, and learn how to teach effectively wherever you start your courses.
Skill Development Workshops:
Elevate your teaching abilities through specialized workshops. Fine-tune your instructional techniques, communication skills, and safety protocols. These workshops prepare you for real-world scenarios. The workshops are the most informative of the programs offered by Divers Incorporated and include many of the aspects of the PADI System that are not commonly taught as part of the IDC. While some are not necessary to help you become a PADI Instructor, all of our workshops prepare you to be an effective educator of all methods of diving instruction.
Confined "Open Water" Instruction:
Take the plunge into confined open water settings, where you'll further refine your instructional prowess. At Divers Incorporated, we show you how to effectively think "outside of the box" when planning your curriculum and building your brand as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. When pools are not readily available, your experience using the open water environment as a "pool" lets you rise to greatness. In our program, you gain experience using realistic, open water conditions as "Confined Water" allowing you to excel with guidance from our expert team.
Open Water Instruction:
Let's face it, most of the training we do as instructors is done in open water environments. In our program, you learn how to conduct open water dives effectively and ensure the safety and satisfaction of your future Open Water Students. You also learn the ins and outs of the open water environment as it applies to other courses as well. All of the core courses and specialties have an open water component, and we teach you how to be successful in any environment as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
Specialties for Success:
In the first quarter of 2023, PADI changed the guidelines for instructors who had no formal training in Dry suits. As part of our PADI Instructor Development course, we train you to become a PADI Dry suit Diver with the goal of making you a PADI Dry suit Diver specialty instructor. This rating opens up many opportunities for you to dive any time of the year and train in almost every environment. The PADI Dry suit Diver Certification and PADI Dry suit Diver Instructor Certification are an optional part of the PADI IDC experience with Divers Incorporated.
Exploring the Opportunities of the Future:
Divers Incorporated is a PADI Technical Diving Center. We are also super experienced in almost every PADI Program and experience available. As part of your IDC, we offer you the option of trying out certain other types of diving. If you are interested, and time allows, you can do a try dive on a full face mask, a stint at underwater photography, or you can do a Try Dive on a Hollis Prism 2 Rebreather as part of your PADI Instructor Development course.
